What you are paying for

SMP is not one appointment. A believable result is built over a series of sessions, normally three, spaced out so we can see how the pigment settles before adding density. The quoted price covers that course of work — not a single visit.

What makes it cost more or less

How much area we are treating. A receding hairline is a fraction of a full scalp with total loss.
Density work versus scar work. Adding density between existing hair is different from camouflaging a strip or FUE donor scar, where scar tissue takes pigment unpredictably and needs extra care.
Your skin and how it holds pigment. Oily skin, scarred skin, and very fair or very deep skin tones each change the approach and sometimes the number of passes.
Corrections. Reworking someone else's SMP — wrong tone, wrong depth, blurred dots — may need lightening before we can build again.

Compared with surgery

A hair transplant is a much larger commitment in cost, recovery, permanent donor scarring, and an eight to nine month wait before you know the outcome. SMP asks less of you on every count, and it does not close the door on surgery later — plenty of clients do both.

Upkeep

Pigment softens gradually with sun and time. Most clients come back for a refresh every few years rather than annually — more on that in how long SMP lasts.
